Home Visits
In recent months the practice has been experiencing an ever increasing demand for home visits.
Home visits are reserved for the following groups of patients
- those too unwell to attend the surgery
- those who are at end of life care
- patients who CANNOT LEAVE THE HOUSE FOR ANY REASON
We are getting requests for patients who are able to attend the dentist, hairdresser, bank and hospital appointments. If you are able to attend these settings then you are not housebound.
While we understand some patients have mobility or transport issues there are often ways around this with help from family and friends, use of public transport.
Why having an appointment in the surgery is safer than a home visit
We have full access to your medical records, medications and results.
We also have colleagues to help should you be unwell and have emergency equipment to hand.
We can do immediate prescriptions allowing medications to be started faster
We can book review appointments or blood tests at the time
Please call the surgery before 11:00.
Urgent Medical Problems
Our Practice policy is to deal with urgent medical problems on the same day and to offer you advice or an appointment if there is a clinical need.
Triage
Patients, who feel that they have a medical problem which needs to be dealt with on the day can telephone the surgery. The receptionist will add your details to the appropriate clinicians list for a call back. Please be available for the call back. To allow clinicians to deal with genuine emergencies on the day, please note that when all the "on the day" capacity triage slots are full and depending on the nature of the problem, the duty doctor will assess and may ask the receptionist to advise the patient to call back the next day.
We will not accept requests for triage appointments before 8.30 am
